Norwich charity releases CD for breast cancer

To come to the aid of the breast cancer charity Keeping Abreast, the bands Cleeving Heevages and Bluegrass Forum have released a collaborative CD to raise money for breast cancer awareness, according to the UK's Evening News 24.

The charity's main goal is to support women who are facing the daunting possibility of a mastectomy and to help those who may be considering breast reconstructive surgery. A member of both bands, Sarah Bristow, designed the CD covers and the t-shirts and learned of Keeping Abreast from her friend Maria Hewkin, who sits on the charity's committee.

"Lots of ladies don't know where they can get support. They don't know they they can wait until later for reconstruction and a lot want to know if their bodies will look the same as before. We're here to help with all of those questions, and more," breast cancer survivor Maria Hewkin told the news source.

At a charity event on Saturday, the bands raised at least 1,600 pounds for the cause from the sale of CDs, t-shirts, cupcakes and a raffle.

According to the American Cancer Society, women should begin to undergo yearly mammograms beginning at age 40.
